About KOA Owners Association’s Care Camps Program

Care Camps is a non-profit charity of the KOA Owners Association that helps send kids with cancer to special camps where they can enjoy camping and recreation experiences, but more importantly, it allows them to feel “normal,” like other kids, for a week a year.

KOA Care Camps is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization registered under EIN # 86-0691641.

Our KOA Care Camps Program was created in 1984 to assist in providing financial support to qualified special non-profit cancer camps for children throughout the US and Canada.  Since 1984 more than $4,283,845 has been contributed.  The program grew to support 48 KOA Care Camps in 2011.

The Care Camps Trustees is a board composed of 7 KOA Owners who volunteer their time in developing a variety of fund raising activities for these camps.  They are also the ones who will review the application from the various camps and make the final decision on the amount that the camps receive from the KOA Care Camps funds.

The KOA Kampground Owners of America believe in the benefits of camping and in giving back to others; so they have chosen the Care Camps to be a focus of this belief.  Camping is a fun activity and what better way to help these children than giving them a chance to go camping.
