In 2011, Camp welcomed the most seriously ill children in its history. Had you opened your calendar to almost any weekend you would have found Camp alive with activity with everything from Team events like Camp Challenge Ride, to empowering family weekends, camper reunions, COPE (Change of Pace Experience) parent weekends, caregiver retreats – even our annual walk-a-thon.
Our summer campers enjoyed sessions filled with activities including swimming, boating, fishing, horseback riding, archery, arts and crafts, mini golf and more. The strength of our medical program allows us to take the most acutely ill children and provide a tailored camping experience of the highest quality.
This year, we expanded our Hero’s Journey program to include campers on active treatment for cancer with excellent results. It was the third year of operation for this specially designed offering for teens that have aged our of our traditional camp program, yet require continued support. Our Hero’s Journey campers practice leadership development, teamwork skills and build critical bonds of friendship in an area on Camp that is separate from our traditional summer program.
